Can I bring a pocketknife into Hong Kong?
I have a Smith and Wesson Homeland Security pocketknife, that is not spring operated, and not a gravity knife. It opens with one hand utilizing thumb pressure applied solely a thumb stud attached to the blade, and it has a mechanism that provides resistance which must be overcome in opening the blade.
It has a blade length of approximately 3 inches.
Will I be able to travel with it in my check-in luggage through U.S. Federal and Hong Kong Customs without too much trouble?
PS: I need to know this because I do not want to be prosecuted when I step off the plane.

Yes it is permissible to carry it in your checked baggage.
